LUMC has a long history of Rogaining. Rogaining combines the great outdoors with map based navigation and it happens every month or so at different parks around Victoria, exposing you to different terrains and areas of the Victorian countryside.
You’ll be relying solely on a map and compass to navigate around the wilderness to tick as many checkpoints as you can before the time runs out. If you love strategy, want to learn how to read a map or just want to spend the day outdoors venturing into places not many have gone before, (Sometimes the best route is off the track) then this is the sport for you.
Rogaining is much like bushwalking. You will definately need:
- Water ~2 liters (depending on weather or duration)
- Food + snacks
- Hat
- Suncreen
- Compass
- Wistle
- small bag/pack (to carry it the above)
- Walking shoes
- Gaters (Nice to have if you like going off the track and taking the most direct route)
Note: Items in Bold are avaliable from the LUMC gear store.
Rogains always end with warm food prepared by volunteers. This food is a part of the signup fee.
Snowy's Outdoors also has a great beginners guide to rogaining!
Please check out the calendar for upcoming events attended by LUMC.
Otherwise why not start your own team for an upcoming event on the VRA website and contact the Bushwalking coveiner to advertise the trip.
