Kayaking Leadership Theory Session

Destination: TBC - Online via Zoom, or at the MUMC Clubrooms (171 Berkeley St, Melbourne VIC 3000)

In order to help people learn about how to minimise risks while on paddling trips, and to cover the theory required for the next group of leaders we will be running a theory night on paddling, starting from about 7:30pm.
Please note that this will be exclusively theory. It will be held either online or at the MUMC Clubrooms, which will be confirmed closer to the date. If you want to learn about the practical useage of these skills then let me know, then sign up to the trip once its posted
The main topics that will be covered between this and subsequent sessions are:
- teaching capsize drills
- teaching basic paddle strokes
- simple rescue/recovery techniques
- group/incident management
Come along, bring a friend. This evening is open to people from any of the uni clubs that do kayaking.

- The club strongly reccomends you are up to date with Covid Vaccinations All participants shoud wash hands/equipment before and after use
- Anyone with any COVID-19 symptoms (e.g. excessive coughing, sore throat) or are a close contact can not join the trip.
- Should anyone show any of the symptoms while in attendance, the trip will be cancelled immediately with an incident form filed to La Trobe Sport
- If you are unable to attend, you must immediately notify the trip organiser so your spot can be offered to someone else

It is your responsibility to ensure you have the right gear. Trip leaders can answer questions you might have. If you dont have the right gear you may get left at uni and leaders might be unwilling to take you in the future.
