Bikepacking trip planned to explore french Island (Accessable from Melbourne by a few trains and a ferry).

Because the there will not be many kilometers planned this is a great trip to test out bikepacking gear.
Smaller backpacks can also help carry bulky items.

Plan is to drive to Stony Point. or From there, the ferry is a short 2 minute stroll along the jetty.
Would be good to make the midday ferry from stony point. You can either train or drive to this point.
Ferry Timetable and Ticket info.
Camp will be at Fairhaven campsite, the only official campsite on the island.
Gear:
Sadly, there are no bicycle/bikepacking gear (bicycle, panniers, etc) avaliable from LUMC for this trip so you will need to be self sufficient, or ask fellow club members or the trip leader for ideas.
The trip leader has a few spare bikepacking bags for anyone intereasted.
You can also use a small backpack to carry stuff as this is only a shorter trip. Dry bacgs can be strapped to handlebars ect.
We will be camping so camping gear can be hired (tent, stove, etc) from the club. The questions below will help the trip organiser work out who may need to hire gear. Gear hire may be available in accordance with current club guidelines https://www.lumc.org.au/gear-store/
