Yarra Kayaking trip planned - pending suitable river levels and leader availability

You must be able to swim 50m (2 laps of pool), and have prevoiusly kayaked with the club.

Plan is to go and do a lap of the Yarra between Lower Homestead Rd and Wittons Reserve.

***Participants will be limited based on the ability to transport kayaks***
If you want to go on this trip, you should have attended one of the Intro to kayaking sessions or have equivalent knowledge (how to perform a wet exit at minimum), and be able to swim at least 50m in strong currents.Spaces will be limited based on the ability to transport kayaks there. If you have roof racks/tow bar or are willing to use soft racks to help transport kayaks, please put that in the trip comments.
Car pooling will be arranged by the trip leader, you will be notified of this a few days before the trip.
Gear list -
- PFD
- Helmet appropriate for whitewater
- Cag
Personal gear:
- Wetsuit/thermals if you feel the cold (Absolutely no cotton) - can be hired from gear room
- Wetsuit boots or old shoes to wear in the water (closed-toed full coverage) - can be hired from gear room
- Dry change of clothes and towel for the end of the day, and a dry pair of shoes in case you use an old pair on the water.
- Water Bottle
- Snacks (individually wrapped chocolate/snack bars are great!)

- The club strongly reccomends you are up to date with Covid Vaccinations All participants shoud wash hands/equipment before and after use
- Anyone with any COVID-19 symptoms (e.g. excessive coughing, sore throat) or are a close contact can not join the trip.
- Should anyone show any of the symptoms while in attendance, the trip will be cancelled immediately with an incident form filed to La Trobe Sport
- If you are unable to attend, you must immediately notify the trip organiser so your spot can be offered to someone else

It is your responsibility to ensure you have the right gear. Trip leaders can answer questions you might have. If you dont have the right gear you may get left at uni and leaders might be unwilling to take you in the future.
