Further trip details
**Trip is subject to weather conditions, and leader availability**
***Participants will be limited based on the availability of kayaks***
The plan is to go to Lysterfield Park Lake and paddle for the afternoon.
We will be teaching beginner skills and wet exits for those of you that haven't done much paddling before. Complete novices welcome :). We will be going over basic kayaking skills so that you know how to safely participate in future paddling trips - however it will mean that if you haven't done it before then you will have to practise capsizing.
This will also be a great opportunity for anyone who hasn't done any touring/sea kayaking to try it out in some calm, enclosed waters, and start to learn some basic skills, and practise some self/assisted recovery techniques, so you will be getting dunked at some stage during the day. Learning these skills is necessary to be able to safely participate in some of the longer and more challenging trips that are coming up, such as the Pope's eye kayaking and snorkelling trip.
Gear list:
- bathers
- hat and sunglasses
- wetsuit/thermals if you feel the cold (wetsuit must be hired from the gear room beforehand if you want it)
- wetsuit boots or old shoes to wear in the water (there are some available for hire from the gear room if you want)
- A dry change of clothes and towel for the end of the day
- Water Bottle
- lunch and snacks
- PFD and Cag
Kayak, paddle, and spraydeck will be organised to be taken
If you have any queries then please get in touch.
Cheers
Michael
