The Annual General Meeting for the La Trobe University Mountaineering Club Inc. will be held on Tuesday the 13th of November 2018 at 6.30pm.
Venue- Reception Studio in the Sports Centre
This is where we elect the 2018/2019 committee. The club doesn't run without a committee, so we need your help! There will be pool sessions afterwards at 8:00pm. All positions will be vacant and we are looking for lots of new members to join in and help out, we welcome any members to join the committee who are keen and enthusiastic about helping run the club.
You may nominate for as many committee positions as you wish, however (with the exception of the Secretary) you can only be elected to 1 role.
Committee positions for election
President
Oversee running of club/committee and is the primary contact for the sports center. This role involves ensuring communication from the Uni is appropriately distributed to the club/committee/individuals and that issues are responded to/resolved promptly.
Vice President
Assists the president and rest of committee as required. The president often delegates specific tasks for the Vice President to do.
Treasurer
Manages the finances of the club. This involves monitoring the club budget, and maintaining the financial records. You don't need to be an accountant to do this role - we use an online system provided by La Trobe. Someone who is regularly around the club and can empty cash box when required makes this role easier.
Club Officer (formerly known as the Secretary)
Manages the membership list for the club, ensuring everyone gets added to email list and membership list. Ideally someone who is on campus and around the club regularly.
Activity convenor positions (up to 6)
Convenors oversee their respective sport in the club (not necessarily run everything!). These people are not necessarily the most technically advanced person in the club but should be able to provide advice relating to their sport and provide direction for the club.
It is generally expected that convenors will ensure that there are at least 5 Club trips of which at least 3 are aimed at beginners run throughout the year (ie ensure the sport is active).

General members (2)
General members are additional members of the committee who assist where required
Secretary (formally known as Public Officer, appointed by the committee not at the AGM) This person is the contact for the club to Consumer Affairs Victoria, a committee member can hold this role on its own or as well as another committee position. This person assists the committee in ensuring they meet the legal requirements of being an Incorporated Organization.
Deputy positions we always have lots of things the committee needs help with, deputy positions in particular we are looking for people to help out being one of the following deputies
- Webmaster
- Pool sessions assistant
- Indoor rockclimbing nights coordinator
If you aren't sure what skills, you have to offer send someone on the committee an email or have a chat at a club event. A short committee meeting will follow the AGM to sort out some details with the newly elected committee.
Only current (2018) members are eligible to stand for positions on the committee or vote at the meeting.
